This training is only open to ESC-20 school district and charter school employees.
Participants will learn warning signs and verbal diffusion techniques for dealing with the most difficult student behaviors. This Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Training presents strategies and techniques that provide participants with a non-harmful behavior management system. It includes safe interventions to use when disruptive behavior escalates, and is appropriate for educators and staff at all grade-levels.
Participants must attend the full workshop and pass the post-test in order to receive credit and certification. You must be registered prior to attending this certification training.
Given the team nature of the restraint techniques taught in this course, a minimum of 4 participants must be enrolled. If less than 4 participants enroll in this course, it will be canceled because the full scope of restraint will not be experienced by the participant.
Given the physically interactive nature of this workshop, participants should dress appropriately; including flat, closed-toe shoes. Only those wearing the appropriate footwear will be permitted to participate. Participants demonstrating required competencies will be certified by Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
This session meets the requirement TAC, 89.1053 (d): Personnel using restraint in an emergency must receive training within 30 school days after the use of restraint.
This session addresses social emotional learning, restorative discipline, and building positive classroom culture.
