Stop the Bleed

ESC-20 School Health Program provides training and technical assistance to school districts in the comprehensive development of health programs.

Important Session Information:

Stop the Bleed will provide participants with an opportunity to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before medical personnel arrive.  A person who is bleeding can bleed out within three minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to respond and save a life until a medical team can reach the injured individual.

During this one hour workshop participants will learn how to apply a tourniquet, apply a chest seal, and pack a wound with gauze. All simple but life saving techniques that will maintain life until professional help arrives. For participants meeting criteria for becoming a Stop the Bleed Trainer, a trainer of trainers portion will also be offered during the session after the initial instruction is completed.
