This online session is intended to address the needs of students with autism who present with limited or absent tact (labeling) and mand (requesting) repertoires. The presenter will review conceptual skills and protocols necessary to establish basic skills sets. A significant focus of the session will be on the process of establishing early instructional control as well as establishing the value of social interaction. The session will cover assessment procedures, skill sequencing, and instructional program development; as well as strategies for organizing instructional materials. Specific strategies relevant to teaching across a variety of communication repertoires will be presented.
This session will take place in the form of a Zoom session. Participants must have a desktop, laptop or Chromebook in order to participate, along with an adequate internet connection. Active participation of various forms will be required during the session in order to obtain course credit. You will receive a confirmation email from Connect20.
