ESC-20 provides training, technical support, resources and information about speech therapy for students who have communication disorders.

Identifying and Treating Swallowing and Feeding Disorders in the School Setting Setting

This course is intended to provide school system swallowing and feeding team members, including school based SLPs, OTs, PTS, nurses, and classroom staff, with the information necessary to establish and maintain safe, efficient, and enjoyable mealtimes at school for students with disabilities. The session will address the foundations for addressing swallowing and feeding in the schools including:

· knowing why districts must address swallowing and feeding disorders.

· the importance of administrative support, and

· a district-approved team procedure.

The session will also provide information related to service delivery, linking medical teams and school teams, and working closely with parents and caregivers.

This program has been submitted for approval of 3.0 clock hours of continuing education credit by TSHA and TPTA.
