This session, "Using Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) to Create Effective Transition Plans," is designed for special education teachers, general education teachers, school administrators, and Transition Employment Designees (TEDs).
*** It is highly recommended that participants complete the free, asynchronous Standards-Based Individualized Education Program (IEP) Process Training(SBIEP) prior to attendance.
Participants will apply Present Levels of Academic and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) components and purposes to translate PLAAFP data into actionable transition plans. They will also explore best practices for involving students, families, and teams in the transition planning process.
The morning portion will allow participants the opportunity to put knowledge obtained in SBIEP training into practice through hands-on implementation and coaching, specifically targeting students preparing for post-secondary outcomes.
In the afternoon, participants will focus on linking PLAAFP information to transition plans and IEP goals through the lens of legal requirements and best practices. Participants will learn to develop appropriate transition services and activities through case studies and group work in which they will create a transition plan based on a sample PLAAFP statement.
Participants will need to bring all materials provided in both days of SBIEP training, as well as a current sample PLAAFP and associated IEP goal(s) for at least one student on their caseload.
