Important Session Information:


This session will take place at ESC-20 Maple Conference Center (1314 Hines) in the Alamo Science Lab located on the ground floor.  

This professional learning session will explore the power of Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) as a dynamic approach to teaching science to Emergent Bilingual (EBs) and all students. We will delve into:

  • Core principles of CBLI: How to integrate language objectives with authentic science content, fostering meaningful communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Practical strategies for implementation:
    • Experience a science lesson that is linguistically accessible.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, such as hands-on activities and group work.
    • Incorporate differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
    • Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for EBs.
  • Resources and tools: Discover valuable resources and tools to support CBLI implementation in your science classroom.

Participants will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of CBLI and its benefits for all students.
  • Develop practical strategies for implementing CBLI in their own science classrooms.
  • Increase their confidence in teaching science to EBs.
  • Network with other educators and share best practices.
