Career & Technology Education (CTE)
CTE Practicum, Career Prep, and WBL Teacher Training Workshop

CTE instruction aims at developing foundational skills, core workplace competencies, and specific skill competencies in various occupational areas. Internships, practicums, cooperative education, school-based enterprises, dual enrollment programs, and apprenticeships are a few venues that deliver CTE by providing meaningful opportunities for leaners to apply their academic and technical skills. We serve the career and education community through targeted support for CTE compliance, program development and implementation with rigor and relevancy; bridging with postsecondary education and industry partners to build a global workforce, quality education programs and 21st century learners.

Important Session Information:

Practicum and Career Preparation and other Work-Based Learning (WBL) instructional settings are essential elements of every district’s career and technical education (CTE) program offerings.

This Practicum and Career Preparation Teacher Training workshop is designed to meet the requirements of Texas Academic Code (19 TAC Chapter 231) requiring school districts to ensure that each Career Prep and Practicum teacher has completed "...appropriate training in state and federal requirements regarding work-based learning and safety...".

This enhanced, interactive training program will help participants understand and apply current rules and statue from Texas Education Code (TEC), the United States Department of Labor (DOL), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

This fast-paced, interactive workshop is appropriate for CTE teachers who are new (or veteran) to the Practicum and Career Preparation instructional setting.

It is an excellent refresher for veteran teachers, campus administrators, counselors and CTE Administrators who wish to "sharpen their saw" and understand the complex instructional setting for Practicum and Career Prep so they can better support the instructor, the students, and the business partners providing the guided training stations.
