Safety-CareĀ® Crisis Prevention Training

ESC-20 provides training, technical assistance, and resources to help schools positively change student behavior and improve student achievement.

Important Session Information:

This training is only open to ESC-20 school district and charter school employees.

Safety-Care is more than crisis management training; it provides the skills and competencies necessary to effectively prevent, minimize, and manage behavioral challenges with dignity, safety, and the possibility of change. Safety-Care delivers the tools you need to be safe when working with behaviorally challenging individuals using up-to-date and effective technologies from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). These strategies are appropriate for individuals experiencing developmental, neurologic, psychiatric, and other impairments. Safety-Care promotes a reinforcement-based approach to developing new skills, maintaining safety, and reducing or eliminating restrictive interventions such as restraint.

Participants must attend the full workshop and pass the post-test in order to receive credit and certification.  You must be registered prior to attending this certification training.

Given the team nature of the restraint techniques taught in this course, a minimum of 3 participants must be enrolled. If less than 3 participants enroll in this course, it will be canceled because the full scope of restraint will not be experienced by the participant.

Given the physically interactive nature of this workshop, participants should dress appropriately; including flat, closed-toe shoes. Only those wearing the appropriate footwear will be permitted to participate.

This session meets the requirement TAC, 89.1053 (d): Personnel using restraint in an emergency must receive training within 30 school days after the use of restraint.

This session addresses restorative discipline and building positive classroom culture.

This session is free to members of the Special Education Cooperative.
