This 2-day series focuses on the evaluation requirements for the identification of students suspected of visual impairment. During this session, participants will explore the different components of the Vision Assessment, including the Functional Vision Evaluation (FVE)/Learning Media Assessment (LMA). Participants will also review a variety of tools that may be used during the assessment process. Participants will also explore other areas, such as the documentation of Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), Assistive Technology, and tools used when considering service time. Participants will be able to determine information that should be included in the present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP), goals and objectives, and accommodations in the IEP.
This training is intended for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) with 3 years or less of experience; however, anyone wanting a refresher is welcome.
Please note this is a multi-day, face-to-face session (September 26 and October 24, 2025). Participants must attend all days to receive credit.
This session is free to members of the Special Education Cooperative.
