ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance to programs serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including assisting programs meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the continuum of placement options.

Important Session Information:


When students have more than one disability condition, it’s important to consider both and also how they interact with each other. Both deafness and autism can have a significant impact on communication and language as well as learning. This session provides an overview of specific instructional and visual strategies that positively impact the academic and behavioral success of learners with autism . As teachers gain a deeper understanding of autism characteristics and characteristics of students who are deaf and hard of hearing, they will be able to discuss and explore effective ways of supporting academic, behavioral, and social related skills for learners in their classrooms.
