Fentanyl Awareness and Opioid Overdose Response Training for School Staff



ESC-20 School Health Program provides training and technical assistance to school districts in the comprehensive development of health programs. 
 


Important Session Information:


To fulfill the requirements of TEC §38.224, added by Acts 2023, 88th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1080 (S.B. 629), Sec. 1, eff. June 18, 2023. This training equips school staff with essential knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses, including fentanyl-related incidents, in the school setting. Participants will learn to:

• Identify the signs and symptoms of an opioid-related overdose.
• Administer an opioid antagonist (e.g., naloxone/Narcan).
• Implement emergency procedures when responding to an overdose.
• Properly store and dispose of opioid antagonists.

Through interactive discussions and scenario-based learning, school personnel will gain confidence in taking life-saving actions to protect students and staff.
