The Youth Awareness Hour series is coordinated by the Behavioral Health Partnership Program Liaison for ESC 20. This series was designed to provide no-cost, convenient, learning opportunities to inform, engage, and empower adults who play a role in the lives of young people.
Each session, we will explore key issues affecting youth today — from mental health and social media, to peer pressure, relationships, and more. The goal is to help bridge generational gaps, deepen empathy, and equip adults with the awareness and tools to better support the next generation.
Whether you're a parent, teacher, coach, counselor, or community leader — these sessions are for you. Let’s learn together, grow together, and show up stronger for today’s youth!
This session will be presented by Crime Stoppers of Houston, and will cover Teen Dating Safety.
"Teens can become easily victimized by false promises of relationships. This presentation discusses different types of relationships, explains the importance of setting goals and boundaries, and reveals how to spot unhealthy behaviors. A detailed definition of consent is provided as well as proactive steps students can take to protect themselves and peers. Lean when to emphasize protections through Title IX and legal orders as it's imperative to encourage students to take action when necessary."
