Differentiation In Mathematics Using Low Floor, High Ceiling Routines

ESC-20 provides professional development and technical assistance to support educators with implementation of the Mathematics TEKS by analyzing data to enhance instructional practices to meet the needs of students, and provides targeted support to reach campus and district goals.

Important Session Information:

How can we meet the varying learning needs of all students—without creating different lessons for every learner? This session explores how Low Floor, High Ceiling routines can support effective differentiation in the math classroom. These routines provide accessible entry points for all students while offering rich opportunities for deeper thinking and extension.

Participants will engage in hands-on exploration of routines, examining how each one can be adapted to challenge and support learners at various levels. Together, we’ll unpack strategies for promoting student participation, encouraging mathematical reasoning, and cultivating a classroom culture where every student can access meaningful math.

Whether you’re new to differentiation or looking to refine your practice, this session will equip you with ready-to-use strategies and ideas to make math more inclusive, engaging, and rigorous for all learners.
