This professional development training is designed for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), Assistive Technology Specialists, and educators working with blind and low-vision students across the Education Service Center, Region 20 area. The training provides a comprehensive introduction to screen reader instruction and low vision accessibility features on both Windows PCs and Chromebooks.
The program addresses the challenge of documenting and delivering effective assistive technology (AT) instruction across inconsistent systems by equipping teachers with a structured, skill-tracked curriculum that can be used consistently with students across devices.
The training includes:
- Live, instructor-led demonstration and modeling
- Breakout sessions for hands-on skill application
- Access to an 8-week license of the Screen Reader Curriculum
- Strategies for teaching both screen reader and low vision tool
Participants must bring either a Windows laptop or Chromebook.
