The Youth Awareness Hour series is coordinated by the Behavioral Health Partnership Program Liaison for ESC 20. This series was designed to provide no-cost, convenient, learning opportunities to inform, engage, and empower adults who play a role in the lives of young people.
Each session, we will explore key issues affecting youth today — from mental health and social media, to peer pressure, relationships, and more. The goal is to help bridge generational gaps, deepen empathy, and equip adults with the awareness and tools to better support the next generation.
Whether you're a parent, teacher, coach, counselor, or community leader — these sessions are for you. Let’s learn together, grow together, and show up stronger for today’s youth!
This session will be presented by San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, and will cover Tips for Managing Oppositional Behaviors (with PACE).
Gain practical tools to respond to oppositional behaviors with the PACE approach—Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy—to reduce power struggles and foster cooperation. This training gives teachers practical strategies to de-escalate conflict, strengthen relationships, and guide students back to regulation and learning.
