Learn practical skills for building rapid solutions with preK-12 students, teachers, and parents. Solution-focused counseling (SFC) is a brief, culturally responsive, evidence-based approach to addressing behavioral and psychological problems by building on students’ small successes and resources. SFC can be used by itself or combined with other counseling and intervention approaches. The session demonstrates key techniques of SFC and invites participants to consider other applications of solution-focused practice in schools including parent/teacher consultation, IEP conferences and related services, assessment/report-writing, and more. Live and video demonstrations, role plays, practice exercises, and real-world examples help participants apply workshop techniques the very next day on the job.
This session is free to members of the Special Education Cooperative.
