ELPS Overview 101: Preparing K–12 Leaders for the NEW 2026 English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
This 3-hour interactive session is designed for K–12 administrators to explore the 2026–2027 implementation of the new ELPS using the current guidance provided by the Texas Education Agency. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the updates and begin considering strategies to support teachers in preparing for implementation.
Through the session, participants will:
- Review key updates TEA has shared, including revised grade bands, the new TAC location, and expanded proficiency levels
- Understand how the redesigned language-pattern-based PLDs guide instruction across all content areas
- Begin exploring strategies to support teachers in planning and implementation
Participants will also receive a manual with essential ELPS components and current TEA guidance, providing a practical reference for leading implementation efforts.
This session provides foundational insights and practical ideas to help administrators start preparing for ELPS implementation in the upcoming school year.
