ELPS Overview 101: Exploring and Preparing to Support EB Students with the NEW 2026 English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
This 6-hour interactive session is designed for teachers, instructional coaches, interventionists, and anyone working with emergent bilingual (EB) students across all content areas and grade levels. Using the current guidance provided by the Texas Education Agency, participants will explore the 2026–2027 implementation of the new ELPS and begin preparing to apply these changes in their classrooms.
Through hands-on activities aligned with CBLI instructional methods, participants will:
- Gain an initial understanding of the revised PLDs for each proficiency level
- Explore ideas for supports and scaffolds for EB students across content areas
- Begin considering how these updates may inform classroom instruction and planning
Participants will also receive a manual with essential ELPS components and current TEA guidance, providing a practical starting point for implementation.
This session provides foundational insights and practical ideas to help educators start preparing for ELPS implementation in the upcoming school year.
