Early Childhood
Virtual: MTSS for Behavior Support: Tier 1

Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) provides assistance to districts in the successful development and implementation of a school readiness integration model of coordinated funding that brings school districts, Head Start programs and child care providers together in a mixed delivery model.  ESC-20 also provides leadership to ensure the effective regional implementation of appropriate instructional strategies in early childhood settings through technical assistance and professional development in the areas of developmentally appropriate practices and curriculum and supports parents with Pre-Kindergarten information and eligibility criteria.

Important Session Information:

This 90-minute session focuses on Tier 1: Universal Supports, the foundation of the MTSS framework, designed to meet the needs of all children (typically 75-90%). Participants will dive into proactive, classroom-wide strategies for defining, teaching, and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations. Key topics include creating a safe and caring classroom environment, promoting self-regulation, and using positive, behavior-specific feedback to foster prosocial behavior and prevent challenging behaviors before they start.

This is the second session in a four part series. While registration for all parts is not required, it is recommended, as each tier builds upon the foundation of Tier 1 practices.
