Important Session Information:

Spelling is the bedrock of writing fluency. Stop the "just sound it out" frustration. In Scientific Spelling, participants learn how to analyze spelling errors and adjust instruction to target students' specific needs.

Instruction for participants includes phonemic awareness, reliable spelling patterns and rules, and/or strategies for learning words with unexpected spelling. Spelling is the foundation of reading. The skills required to spell a word are the same skills required for quick recognition of a word when reading.

Scientific Spelling is an instructional framework emphasizing the importance of instruction in phonological awareness, regular spelling patterns, reliable spelling rules, and irregular words for effective spelling instruction. This course is designed for Grades 1-8 Teachers
