This presentation outlines “Five Key Moves” for
system-level improvements in mathematics,
guiding superintendents and district leaders
through evidence-based practices in curriculum,
instruction, assessment, professional
development, and managed instruction. We will
also address why strategic changes in math
education—such as direct, explicit instruction
and high-quality instructional materials—are
critical for boosting student achievement and
postsecondary across Texas.
