GT 6 hour update/Day 5 - Unlocking Differentiation in Grades 6-12 - (Medina Valley ISD only)



The Gifted and Talented program at Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) promotes and supports the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students through professional development and technical assistance. This is accomplished by advocating, designing and providing an array of learning experiences for teachers and administrators of gifted and talented students in order to enable them to provide a nurturing environment in which these students with special abilities, unique needs, and diverse backgrounds are recognized.

Important Session Information:


This session is designed for secondary educators and focuses on using Depth and Complexity strategies to promote purposeful talk and increase student engagement. Participants will explore how to move beyond surface-level responses by embedding icons into structured questioning routines such as Think-Pair-Share, Socratic Seminars, and Accountable Talk.

Teachers will learn how to make student thinking visible and transferable across content areas while strengthening student discourse and participation. Additionally, the session will emphasize designing learning experiences that balance critical and creative thinking, supporting students in analyzing, justifying, and extending their ideas while also encouraging multiple perspectives and original thinking.

Fees: $0 (G/T Co-op) | $125 (Non-Co-op)

At this time, this session is only available to Medina Valley ISD teachers and staff.
