G/T 6 Hour Update- Designing for Thinking: Embedding Creativity and Collaboration

The Gifted and Talented program at Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) promotes and supports the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students through professional development and technical assistance. This is accomplished by advocating, designing and providing an array of learning experiences for teachers and administrators of gifted and talented students in order to enable them to provide a nurturing environment in which these students with special abilities, unique needs, and diverse backgrounds are recognized.

Important Session Information:

In this session, educators will examine how to intentionally design lessons that require students to think, create, and collaborate as part of the learning process. Rather than treating creativity and group work as add-ons, participants will learn how to embed these structures to deepen understanding and engagement. Teachers will apply practical frameworks to redesign lessons that meet the needs of gifted learners while supporting a range of readiness levels. Emphasis will be placed on teacher moves that promote discourse, ownership, and rigorous thinking.

This training may be used to fulfill G/T Day 3, 4, or 5, or a 6-hour G/T update if not previously completed.

Please bring a fully charged device to access and engage with course materials.
