VIRTUAL Understanding Trauma and Supporting Youth in the Classroom



Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.


 


Important Session Information:


Target Audience: School personnel and adults working with youth

This session will highlight the various forms of trauma and the common responses children may develop as a result of experiencing traumatic events. Participants will learn to recognize common behavioral signs and trauma responses in children, as well as ways to support effective coping within the classroom setting.

We will also explore how vicarious and secondary trauma can impact your role as an educator or provider. Additionally, the session will cover practical strategies to support both yourself and your students, along with identifying available resources for ongoing care and support.
