Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

Important Session Information:

Target Audience: School professionals and adults working with youth

Grief can affect children and adolescents in many different ways, often showing up through emotions, behaviors, academic changes, or withdrawal. This supportive session will explore the stages of grief and how they may uniquely manifest in youth at different developmental ages. Participants will gain a better understanding of how grief is not always linear and how children may move through feelings in waves over time.

We will also discuss the ripple effect of grief, including how loss can impact family dynamics, friendships, school performance, and overall well-being. Join us to learn practical ways to recognize grief responses, provide compassionate support, and help youth navigate healing after loss.
