Gifted students often possess an intense, heightened sense of justice alongside an innate drive to create. This makes the rise of Generative AI a fascinating, messy frontier for gifted and talented students. While some G/T kids might use AI to bypass tasks they find tedious, others view it with deep disdain, seeing it as a threat to authentic human voice.
This interactive, hands-on Zoom session skips the basic tech tutorials to explore how we can facilitate fast, low-stakes ethical dilemmas that hook a gifted learner’s need for abstract thinking, while protecting original, critical thought in an automated world.
We know that navigating the world of AI can feel a bit overwhelming, and it is completely okay if you don't feel like an expert. Our zoom session will be a safe, collaborative space where it’s great if you’ve already messed around a bit with tools like ChatGPT or Gemini, but what matters most is a willingness to challenge your own thinking on this topic.
Together, we’ll look at examples of how AI processes information, debate emerging future-focused dilemmas, and collaborate on ways to design assignments that leverage these tools as a personalized cognitive playground rather than just a shortcut.
