This session is designed to help teachers strengthen foundational literacy skills for emergent bilingual students by focusing on the building blocks of reading: syllables and sounds. Together, we will explore practical strategies to support students in connecting phonological awareness, phonics, and meaning-making so they can confidently “unlock the code” of the English language. Teachers will leave with ready-to-use routines, engaging activities, and research-based approaches that promote language development and reading success for all learners.
