This course will familiarize educators and SLPs with proactive best practices and interventions to meet student communication needs in the classroom. We will examine practical methods to integrate speech-language expertise across all three tiers: empowering Tier 1 teachers with language-rich instructional strategies, co-designing standardized Tier 2 small-group protocols, and preserving Tier 3 clinical resources for students with true communication disorders.
Through real-world case studies, data-sharing protocols, and structured implementation timelines, attendees will leave equipped to build a unified, proactive communication-based MTSS roadmap for their school or district.
As a result of this course, participants will become familiar with the MTSS process as it pertains to speech and language, learn about foundational components of the intervention tiers, review considerations for implementation, and learn about the interventions and resources designed to support students with communication difficulties in the classroom.
