Presented By: Gracee Condor, MA, NCSP
Doing the right thing as an evaluator is rarely clear-cut—and it is almost never comfortable. Whether you are navigating a sticky boundary issue, managing a confidentiality leak, or questioning a competency limit, ethical dilemmas often leave practitioners stuck in the awkward space between policy and reality.
This interactive session moves past dry rulebooks to tackle the real-world complexities of daily practice. First, we will look at the numbers, analyzing recent violation trends from the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) and the National Association for School Psychology (NASP) to see where practitioners most frequently stumble. You will walk away with actionable, procedurally aligned strategies for communication and documentation that keep you firmly compliant with Texas education laws and professional practice standards—allowing you to protect your students, your school team, and your license.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify trends in legal and ethical violations by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) and National Association of School Psychology (NASP).
- Identify key ethical and competency standards outlined by NASP, and apply these to common dilemmas encountered in school psychology practice.
- Analyze real-world ethical scenarios using an established ethical decision-making framework to determine appropriate and procedurally aligned actions when faced with boundary, confidentiality, or competency concerns.
- Strengthen professional practice by implementing strategies that promote ethical communication, documentation, and collaboration with students, families, and school teams, while maintaining compliance with Texas education laws and professional practice requirements.
