Effective math coaching isn't just about sharing resources—it’s about shifting classroom culture, deepening pedagogical content knowledge, and building sustainable teaching practices.
This year-long, collaborative session series is designed specifically for mathematics coaches and instructional leaders looking to refine their craft and maximize their impact. Meeting regularly throughout the school year, this cohort will serve as a dynamic professional learning community (PLC) where we analyze current research, share field-tested strategies, and tackle the real-world challenges of instructional leadership. Together, we will move from theory to practice, ensuring every teacher we support is equipped to foster deep mathematical thinking in their students.
Part 7:Goal Setting and Building Effective Teams
The transition between school years is a critical window for math coaches to shift from tactical day-to-day support to strategic, long-term impact. This interactive session provides math coaches and specialists with a blueprint to maximize this bridge period. Participants will learn how to guide teachers through an asset-based end-of-year reflection that transforms raw data and classroom experiences into purposeful, student-centered goals for the upcoming year.
Moving beyond individual goal setting, we will delve into the logistics of building high-functioning, collaborative math teams (PLCs). We will explore strategies to establish trust from day one, align team goals with evidence-based mathematical practices, and create a culture of shared responsibility. Coaches will walk away with a ready-to-use "Wrap-Up & Launch" toolkit—complete with reflection protocols, data-sorting frameworks, and a roadmap to foster collaborative, data-driven math communities from the very start of the new school year.
