Adolescence brings increased academic, social, and emotional demands that can make self-regulation especially challenging for high school students with autism. This session explores practical, evidence-based strategies to help educators create supportive environments that promote regulation, reduce escalation, and foster student safety, independence, and success.
Participants will learn how to recognize signs of dysregulation, identify environmental and instructional factors that influence behavior, and implement proactive supports that help students remain engaged and regulated throughout the school day.
This session is designed for high school general education teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, transition specialists, and other school staff who support secondary students with autism.
This session is free to members of the Special Education Cooperative.
