Effective math coaching isn't just about sharing resources—it’s about shifting classroom culture, deepening pedagogical content knowledge, and building sustainable teaching practices.
This year-long, collaborative session series is designed specifically for mathematics coaches and instructional leaders looking to refine their craft and maximize their impact. Meeting regularly throughout the school year, this cohort will serve as a dynamic professional learning community (PLC) where we analyze current research, share field-tested strategies, and tackle the real-world challenges of instructional leadership. Together, we will move from theory to practice, ensuring every teacher we support is equipped to foster deep mathematical thinking in their students.
Session #4: Giving feedback that actually moves the needle can be tricky, especially when we want to move past general compliments and get to real growth. This session is designed for Math Coaches who want to master the art of taking targeted, objective observation notes that capture exactly what students and teachers are saying and doing in real time. Instead of sharing personal judgments or a laundry list of what we liked, we’ll practice delivering descriptive feedback that clearly connects specific teacher moves to student learning. By helping teachers see the direct impact of their choices in the classroom, you’ll leave equipped to build their confidence and teacher efficacy.
