This two-hour virtual training is designed to meet the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) reasonable suspicion training requirements for supervisors of safety-sensitive employees.
The first hour focuses on alcohol misuse, including the signs, symptoms, and behavioral indicators of alcohol abuse, as well as the impact alcohol impairment can have on workplace safety and performance.
The second hour reviews-controlled substance use and drug abuse, covering the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators associated with commonly abused drugs. Supervisors learn how different substances may affect an employee's appearance, behavior, judgment, and ability to safely perform safety-sensitive duties.
Throughout the training, supervisors receive practical instruction on their roles and responsibilities in recognizing signs of possible impairment, documenting objective observations, approaching employees in a professional and respectful manner, and making informed, defensible decisions regarding reasonable suspicion testing. The course equips supervisors with the knowledge and confidence to identify potential concerns, respond appropriately, and maintain compliance with DOT regulations.
