Important Session Information:

Elevate your assessment practices by bridging daily instruction with high-stakes testing expectations. In this hands-on professional learning session, educators will learn how to capture meaningful student data during daily instruction and transform formative checks into rigorous, STAAR-style reading items.

Participants will explore strategies to turn real-time oral comprehension checks (verificar la comprensión) into structured assessment questions, create rigorous STAAR-aligned assessment items tailored for both English and Spanish Language Arts (ELAR/SLAR), and construct paired-passage reading tasks using Unit 1 anchor texts. By the end of the course, educators will leave with a suite of classroom-ready assessment items that directly prepare students for state reading standards without compromising authentic literacy instruction.
