Master the Extended Constructed Response (ECR) by stepping directly into the student experience and taking on the role of an evaluator. Designed to strip away the guesswork of high-stakes writing assessments, this immersive workshop walks educators through the end-to-end writing process from a student’s perspective—annotating texts, unpacking complex prompts, and drafting complete, evidence-based responses.
Participants will then analyze real student writing using the official 5-point STAAR ECR scoring rubric to develop a sharp, consistent standard for assessment. By evaluating sample essays and providing targeted peer feedback, teachers will learn exactly what scorers look for and how to translate those insights into high-impact classroom instruction, effective scaffolds, and daily writing routines that build confident, capable student writers.
