Presented by Dr. Edward Schultz and Dr. Tammy Stephens
Session Description
Effective SLD evaluation is not about administering more tests. It is about knowing which evidence matters, how the pieces fit together, and what the data tell us about learning. This overview session introduces the CSEP 2.0 approach, which integrates test data, authentic learning data, and an understanding of Academic Learning Networks. These sources are filtered through the evaluator’s experience, expertise, and education to move beyond isolated scores toward a more complete understanding of a student’s learning disability. Participants will be introduced to how this focused, evidence-driven approach can improve test selection, data integration, and diagnostic precision.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Describe the major components of the CSEP 2.0 approach to SLD evaluation.
- Explain how test data, authentic learning data, and Academic Learning Networks contribute to a more complete understanding of learning.
- Identify how evaluator experience, expertise, and education influence test selection and interpretation.
- Recognize how a focused, evidence-driven approach can support greater diagnostic precision while reducing unnecessary testing.
