Academic Performance

Important Session Information:

Unlock the code to multisyllabic word reading and spelling by mastering structured syllable instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. When students move beyond single-syllable words, reading difficulty often spikes—unless they have a systematic framework to break down complex text. This practical course provides educators with explicit instructional strategies to teach the six syllable types: Closed, Open, Vowel-Consonant-e (VCe), Vowel Team, R-Controlled, and Consonant-le (C-le).

Participants will explore how vowel behavior changes across syllable patterns and learn how to teach syllable division rules (VC/CV, V/CV, VC/V, V/V) in a clear, logical sequence. Teachers will gain hands-on experience using multisensory routines, coding strategies, and diagnostic assessments to help students accurately decode long, complex words and build fluent reading habits.
