Federal/State Funding
Conquering the Basics of Special Education Finance

ESC-20 provides training, technical assistance and resources for complying with state and federal regulations, state monitoring systems and federal funding requirements. Monthly special education director meetings are hosted to share all relevant information.

Important Session Information:

Special education finance is complex and can feel overwhelming to new special education leaders. This session lays a solid foundation to enable you to manage your special education budget to support the critical work of supporting students with disabilities. We will begin with a review of the resources to assist you and build an understanding of state and federal revenue. You will learn not just how to complete the federal IDEA-B grant, including the required set asides for residential placements and proportionate share, but also the compliance pieces that are so concerning like EDGAR, excess cost, maintenance of effort and allowable expenditures. A basic budgeting process will also be reviewed.
