The Oral and Written Language Scales, Second Edition (OWLS-II) evaluates four language processes on four separate scales: Listening Comprehension, Oral Expression, Reading Comprehension, and Written Expression. In this training, participants will learn the components of Integrated Language Theory which underpins the OWLS-II. Learners will also identify how to use the OWLS-II to assess language-based learning disabilities, identify strengths and weaknesses in each area, and guide intervention. This session will provide the participant with the background and uses of the OWLS-II, as well as an overview of how to administer, score, and interpret the OWLS-II. Participants are encouraged to bring their own OWLS-II kits for hands-on assessment practice of all four scales for the second half of this training. (90 minutes will be dedicated to assessment theory/interpretation; 90 minutes will be dedicated to hands-on practice.)
