VIRTUAL Lunch and Learn: Substance Use Prevention

Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

Important Session Information:

Title: VIRTUAL Substance Use Lunch and Learn

Target Audience: School professionals and adults working with youth.

In this session, school personnel will take a closer look at the “THC surge” and what it means for students. Participants will explore how cannabis products and potency have changed, why higher THC levels matter for the developing brain, and how use may affect behavior, learning, mental health, and overall functioning. The session will also provide practical guidance for recognizing possible cannabis-related concerns, talking with students without judgment, and connecting youth and families to appropriate support.
