A Refresher on Texas G/T Program Expectations
Gifted/talented services are most effective when educators understand how the major parts of the G/T system work together to support student growth. In this self-paced online course, participants will review gifted/talented services in Texas and consider how identification, service design, curriculum and instruction, professional learning, family communication, and program reflection connect to support gifted learners.
Throughout the course, participants will engage with interactive content, scenarios, reflection prompts, visual models, labeled graphics, and knowledge checks that connect course concepts to classroom, campus, and district practice. Learning experiences will focus on why G/T services matter, how gifted learners may show strengths and needs in different ways, how referral and identification connect to services, what G/T services may look like, and how meaningful challenge and communication support gifted learners’ academic and affective growth.
This course is designed as a 6-hour G/T update for educators who have already completed the 30-hour foundational G/T training. It is not intended to repeat the full depth of foundational training. Instead, it provides a practical refresher on key G/T program expectations and helps educators reflect on how those expectations support responsive, meaningful services for gifted learners.
This is a self-paced course. Participants may enroll at any time during the registration period and complete the coursework at their own pace before the course closing date. Course access begins September 18 and ends December 31, 2026.
