JAWS
Take a Swim in the Deep End. Beginner Level.
JAWS (Job Access With Speech) is a popular screen-reader program developed by Freedom Scientific. It helps individuals who are blind or visually impaired access computers by converting on-screen text and information into synthesized speech or refreshable Braille.
We will learn how JAWS allows users to navigate websites, read and create documents, send emails, use educational programs, and interact with various computer applications. How users can navigate through keyboard commands rather than relying on a mouse. In educational settings, JAWS supports students’ independence, access to digital materials, and participation in classroom activities. It is especially useful when combined with a refreshable Braille display, allowing users to access both speech and tactile information.
This will be a 3 part event on 10/6, 11/3 and 12/10.
