Important Session Information:

Participants will be able to understand the foundation and purpose of implementing sheltered instruction in the classroom with English learners.  During this two-day session, research-based models, such as the eight components of the SIOP model and the seven steps to building a language rich classroom, will be discussed and modeled. Participants will be allotted the opportunity to brainstorm ways they can implement such models, amongst additional strategies, in order to enhance the focus of teaching English learners.  Participants will also gain the understanding that sheltered instruction encompasses the best instructional practices for all English learners as they gain proficiency in English language acquisition.
