Legal and Ethical Issues in Schools: ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors



Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

Important Session Information:


This session will provide school counselors with valuable information on the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Counseling Ethics.  Counselors will learn how to establish a "standard of care" through 1) knowledge of ethical standards and statutes, 2) use of an ethical decision-making model, 3) application of standards to counseling records and documentation.  Case scenarios will be used to provide opportunitites for "hands on" learning.
