This training will provide participants practical ways to implement trauma-informed care approaches when supporting students in a school setting. With David's Law, The Health and Safety Code has been amended to authorize schools to develop practices and procedures regarding mental health, including “grief-informed and trauma-informed” practices, and skills related to managing emotions, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and responsible decision-making.” Attendees will learn about: signs and symptoms of trauma, effects of trauma on development and behavior, and the effects trauma has on student achievement.
