Starting the Path to Proficiency:
How to make the change to the new TEKS
Presenter Nella Spurlin, retired German teacher at Temple High School, will facilitate this workshop.
This workshop will help participants:
- identify the levels of proficiency
- examine the new TEKS for LOTE and consider their impact on teaching
- compare and contrast traditional and communicative classrooms
- learn how backward design and can-do statements can revitalize instruction
- create activities that implement the three modes and engage students in meaningful communication.
