Communication is the overarching goal for the LOTE classroom beginning the 2017-2018 school year! The focus is to move from teaching about the language to teaching the language. Participants will learn how the new TEKS were created and how they are organized--looking specifically at the 3 modes of communication: Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational. Understanding how the new TEKS will impact classroom lesson planning and daily activities will be discussed. Throughout this session, participants will distinguish between the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and Performance Descriptors with the goal of learning about and embracing the new TEKS.
