The State Board of Education (SBOE) has legislative authority to adopt the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for each subject of the required curriculum. In June 2017, the SBOE approved a process that will be used to streamline the social studies TEKS and other content areas after that. The initial step of the TEKS Review Process is to examen the scope of time it takes to teach each grade level's content. Once that the scope is determined, then the decision will be made to either Streamline the TEKS for that content area or to do a full or partial revision. Educational Service Centers (ESC) will partake in this process by collecting feedback throughout the process from teachers in their region.
The first step is to determine if the TEKS per grade level are able to be taught effectively with the time allotted each school year. This is where we need your help. Join us on the evening of your grade level and provide us with input. Please join us 4pm. - 6pm. at Region ESC-20. See below.
