CANCELED: Understanding Autism as a Verbal Behavior Disorder (Half Day Session)

ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for families and professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in a variety of school settings.

Important Session Information:

Children with an autism spectrum disorder have significant delays in their communication and social interaction skills. When attempting to teach new language and social skills, it is important to make the learning activities enjoyable such that while the child learns important language, they are motivated to interact with others, especially those who work with them.  This offering is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the verbal behavior analysis of language.

This session will focus on using B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior to better understand autism as a contingency shaped disorder of verbal behavior and considerations of identifying the environmental contingencies that contribute to its deficits.

This offering is part of the series: Session # 46422 Turning your Early Childhood Classroom into a ShaperSpace!  Learning the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis While Increasing Language and Communication Skills in Students with Autism

(Board Certified Autism Technician Series (BCAT) )

It may be taken as a stand alone workshop.
