Gifted students have an innate capacity for experiencing the world and responding to it with higher levels of intensity than their non-gifted peers. Consequently, their reactions and behaviors are often seen as inappropriate in a world where appropriate means being "just like everyone else." But gifted students are not like everyone else--not only in terms of their intellectual ability but also in terms of their over-excitability.
Embracing the Intensity of Gifted/Talented Students provides insights into over-excitability in all of its forms--psychomotor, sensual, intellectual, imaginational, and emotional--with an eye toward seeing the intensity that so often drives gifted students as an asset that's fundamental to "the gift," one that should be embraced rather than squashed.
